Number transfer from BT to O2 - Query

Hi. Apologies in advance if this has been asked previously.

I have taken out a new monthly contract with handset for my son, moving from BT (we also have 2 existing O2 contracts). The PAC code was provided during the purchase and the new sim has been installed and phone restarted more than once. Its been around 24 hours since sim was first installed.

My query is - I can call my own phone from my sons new phone and it will come up as his old number which is as we want it. However, when I or anyone else tries to call my son, there is no connection and states 'mobile number is currently unavailable'. As its an iPhone, I have also changed the phone number in settings and restarted again.

Has the number not transferred properly or is there anything else I need to do?

Any assistance appreciated. Regards

@Steve_UK

It does sound like the port hasn't completed fully.

You need to contact O2.
All numbers are in this guide Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support
When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling.
Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
You can also try saying "Upgrade" or "Fraud" to be connected to an advisor.
8.00am is the best time to call if you can.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Many thanks for your prompt response. I'll give it a while longer and keep restarting the device periodically. If no joy, I'll try calling.
