Even though it says no sim on the screen there is one in there. It's awaiting activation. Is this normal? Thanks.

No, "no sim" usually means the phone can't see a sim at all.

So would @Anonymous need to try a new sim @MI5?

It may not be fitted correctly, or faulty or it could be there specific phone does display "no sim", but that is unusual.

How do you mean it's waiting activation? Is this a new sim or a replacement? New contract or has the phone just started displaying this?

As said, make sure the sim is inserted correctly and take a trip to your o2 shop if you can't sort it.
