I've been with O2 since I was 13 (I'm now 18) and I've had a £27 contract for 2 years now. I was looking at upgrades and comparing them with the contracts available to new customers it struck me that the two were identical.. Now this is the first time I've been eligible for an upgrade but I was under the impression that I would be offered a better deal to reward me for my loyalty? Is this discount just a myth or has it been phased out and is there a way to secure myself a new phone for less than if I just bought a new contract?

O2 have adopted the policy of fair for all and deemed that new and existing customers are entitled to the same deal.

I would just like to point out that the OP has not been a customer since he was 13 and has not had a contract for two years.

It used to be the case that new customers got the better deal and upgrades cost more (unless you went through retentions), though thankfully O2 abolished that discrepancy.
