I got a new sim for my iPhone because I broke the last one trying to cut it... Called CS, got it activated yesterday around 3pm, but it's still showing no service when I turn the phone on. Should it take this long? Or does it sound like there's a problem here?

Thanks.

Try a 'reset network settings' and if that has no effect try a restore on itunes. Make sure you have backed up first.

I called o2 CS again after waiting 24 hours for my sim to not activate, and it turns out that their systems for processing changes to users accounts broke inexplicably, and they have a MASSIVE backlog to get through... It could take a while she said...

Woke up this morning and my data is back on, had a feeling it was o2's problem, wonder if they will compensate users for this?

You're not serious, you changed tariff yesterday and there was a slight delay, how much compensation would you like?

Why is that everyone wants something for nothing these days. Ridiculous claims from some people.

So this is how it is so far... My original SIM card arrived 3 days after the time o2 said it would, then it turns out that when I was choosing my contract, the selection buttons for different types of phone were redundant because I was sent a full size SIM card after selecting iPhone. So I tried to cut it, ruined it, which was my fault, then I got a new SIM from the o2 shop, called to get it activated, waited 26 hours, called again and was told that there was a server mishap, which had caused a large backlog, and it would be done by morning today. Great. Woke up, turned the phone on, no service. I talked to one of the gurus and it turns out that my original call to get my SIM activated hadn't gone through, so there was no request to get it activated in the first place, which begs the question, why was I told that it was in the backlog?.. So, I've to wait another 24 hours to get it activated... It's a bit of a joke to be honest... 9 days without any phone at all because my number swap from the old SIM is stuck somewhere in cyberspace, and the activation of my new SIM was non-existent...
