Move contract to another country?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone,

I currently have a 2-year pay monthly contract (unlimted everything and international favourites) until April 2015. I will be moving back to Germany in November and I was wondering if there is any way I can transfer my contract over to the German O2? I certainly can't afford paying out all the bills until April 2015. I hope there are other options. Thanks very much in advance!

It wouldn't be possible to transfer your contract to O2DE as they are seperate companies.

Your options are limited:

Pay off the remainder of the contract (less any bolt ons or insurance)

Sell the phone to pay off the contract

See if a family member could take over the contract (you would still be responsible)

Carry on paying the contract.

Limited choices I'm afraid but that's the point of contracts.

The 2 companies are seperate from each other the only thing you can do is terminate you contract after removing any boltons and paying the termination fee. Then start a fresh contract with o2-de

Thanks for the quick replies, guys.

Do you happen to know what the termination fee would be?

I would also quite happily sell the phone, can I do this via O2 or is this something I have to do via ebay and such? Any tips on how to get rid of contract and phone would be great.

You've been a great help already slight_smile

The termination fee is your tariff (less any bolt-ons) times the number of months you have left on your contract. You need to call O2 on 202 and give them notice that you want to terminate. They will tell you exactly how much you will have to pay. DO NOT do this via Live Chat. You can sell your phone anywhere, but make sure you unlock it first.

Thanks, Bambino. I'll do that then, hopefully it won't be too expensive for me.

You're welcome. It won't be cheap. You still have quite a few months left on your contract. Best of luck.

High street shops such as CEX to sell your phone to are pretty good.
Just take a form of I.d to join.

Or gum tree.
