Hey Folks,

You will notice ive been away the last few days, well thats because my phone is either lost, or been lifted at my local. Anyway, I have been to the O2 shop and done a sim swap etc. I am getting info together for making a claim on the insurance (via my bank) but cant find my IMEI number. Box seems to have got tossed with all the other xmas boxes. I signed into myo2 assuming it would be there, but its showing the one currently in use with the new sim. Do you think if i called O2 they would be able to look back and find the IMEI?

Surely your IMEI will also be with the insurance and they will only ask for it for confirmation of ownership. Perhaps that's a naive point of view and severely misguided by the delusion of other people actually doing what they are meant to be doing.

Indubitably true. Samsung S21 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra

@PhoneDoc  I can't see that type of layout in My O2 so they must be completely different (and I have learnt over the years how to navigate round all sections....A degree in orienteering wouldn't go amiss)

I presume it is tariff dependent...or... if you took out your contract via the phone, there would be no My Document section?

I have a 12 month sim only contract and whilst I could have purchased it online, I chose to do this (and the previous one) via phone with customer services.

The point I am making I suppose, is that not everyone will have a My Documents section to access previous IMEI numbers?

You may well need an active device plan to acess this section, which OP presumably has. CS can still post out Proof of Purchase if they can't access it

Hey folks, thanks for all the advice. Can't find that section on my O2 under my number as I upgraded via cpw. I am going to get in contact with them and see if they will provide me with a copy of the upgrade receipt, as the insurance paperwork states proof of ownership should be available on request.

I was about to add that you could have bought from another retailer...or outright...or have a sim only contract. Too many variables for every customer to have a My Document section in My O2.......

@Cleoriff Hence why I qualified the original suggestion with "if you signed up to the contract digitally"

@Curr946 Hope CPW get it to swfitly and you're back up and running ASAP

CPW will get you the details if you give them a call or pop in store with some ID.

Cheers folks.

I got the IMEI from my Microsoft account under devices. Spotted this when trying to use the remote wipe feature.

Phone must be off as it can't connect to it, or it's already been wiped by the new "owner"
