Hi, I’ve just switched from another brand to O2 and would like to keep my old number. I already provided all required info but when the SIM came, it’s has a new number and didn’t switch. I was wondering if there anything I should do to make the switch happen or just wait till weekday comes so it can automatically switch?

If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

When did you put your new SIM into the phone?

The number port process starts when you first use your new SIM (if you provided the PAC at point of sale or from the day you provided your PAC otherwise).  The timescales for your number to move over can be found in the help pages (these are industry standard times and common for all operators).  These are as follows:

"You can give us your PAC code when you order your new O2 connection or at any time afterwards. Once you’ve given us your PAC code, you’ll switch to our network within one working day (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, excluding bank holidays). If we receive your code after 5pm, you’ll switch within two working days. If you provide your PAC code at the weekend, you’ll switch on the following Tuesday."  (taken from https://www.o2.co.uk/help/device-and-sim-support/how-to-keep-your-mobile-number)

If you've waited longer than the times above then you'll need to contact O2 to get it sorted out (the transfer can't happen quicker than set out above).

It's only actioned when confirmed by a text from O2 with a transfer date.

If no date has been given, the process has not been started and further contact with O2 is required.

Seems to be a case of YMMV.

In my case I moved to O2 from Virgin Mobile (in order to get Volt benefits) and passed over my PAC at point of sale.  Ordered on a Friday, SIM arrived Tuesday and put in phone, number ported Wednesday (with no intervention on my part although I did get a text on the Wednesday telling me the number transfer was complete).  Agent told me at POS that all I needed to do was put the SIM in the phone!

However, no harm calling O2 to make sure the process has been kicked off.

Just based on experience and the many hundreds of posts on here @paul0363

90% of numbers don't get transferred automatically without chasing up.

You sound like one of the lucky ones.
