Issues registering an 02 international sim

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello,

Before travelling I picked up a travel (international) sim in store as it had better rates then my contract and topped it up on purchase with £10.

I'm currently in Cambodia and have been attempting fruitlessly to register the sim for use by the methods handily stated on the packet (calling 4444 or going onto 02.co.uk/topup) however... The sim has no signal and has been tried in a couple of phones to no avail. So I am unable to register it as the lack of signal means I can't receive the 4 digit code. (My usual contract sim has full signal)

Any ideas on ways round this? Or other means of registering the sim?

Thanks
Jonny

It's a little difficult but you could contact customer service via your normal sim or try the online chat to see if they can activate it for you.

Not absolutely certain of this @jonsie but maybe the sim should have been registered before the OP left the UK....

I know...but I just thought it could NOT be activated now whilst in another country...:smileywink:

Perhaps these sims should come with that advice pasted to them...:smileysad:

I may have this all wrong, but I thought the idea was that you used to sim in the UK to call abroad - Not abroad to call back to UK?

"International Sim
Now comes with data

What is it?

Make UK calls to international mobiles and landlines from just 1p per minute with International Sim. Text anywhere in the world from the UK for just 12p per message. Plus get O2 minutes, O2 texts and data."

In which case it's useless to the OP...

Apparently the reason that you have coverage with your contract sim is that P&G isn't supported by O2 in Cambodia.
