How do I activate 5g

I have a samsung s20 ultra 5g however my 5g isn't working. Only 4g, is there a way to manually activate it or is it just a matter of time as I just bought it a day ago.

To get 5G you need a 5G phone (which you have) a 5G sim and be in an area which has 5G network coverage. https://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

I am in a 5G area (confirmed by the coverage checker) but my 5G phone and 5G Sim just goes to 4G. Very frustrating.

Probably 4G is stronger in that region currently @Thomas09

There could be something in the phone settings making it prefer 4G. iPhone has a setting to turn 5G on all the time or have 5G connect automatically when it would be of benefit or to leave the 5G off. It’s possible android have a similar setting
