How can I cancel o2 12 contract

Anonymous

I'm really unsatisfied with the 'monthly contract SIM card' I ordered from telesales of your company .It brought finically and psychologically bad effect on my life!

The following points are my complains!
1.the salesman hoodwinked me on the phone!
2. the 202 customer service's rude behave on the phone.
3.the trouble the product brought me!
The mobile No. I ordered is (I didn't open it yet)

At 9th of April, I received a call from +44 161 667 3230,Who convinced me to buy the SIM card, but He didn't mention the card is in 12 month contract, and I told him I will be aboard after 10th, he promised me the card will arrive at 10th. But in fact the card was arrived at 11th of April. So I have absolutely no idea the card was in the 12months contract until I came back to UK at 25th morning and I also miss the so called '7 days return policy'! Then I went to the O2 store in Leeds asked them to cancel the contract. The assistant help me to call 202 immediately but when the customer service know I miss the 7day return project, she asked me to give the phone to the assistant at store, told him I cannot cancel the contract then hang up the phone! How rude that costumer service was!

I am an international student in Leeds and I'm gonna leave UK after July. Initially I choose O2 since I thought it has good network and service, I won't buy it if I know it is in the contract, also I will return it if the card arrived on time as promised! I've never have such unpleasant experience in other countries. Since the there are misunderstanding during the buying and delivery period! So I wish I could have a reasonable solution on my case.

Hi @Anonymous and a welcome to the Community Forum.

I'm sorry to hear of your recent experience.

We are all O2 customers here too.

They should have offered a Payg sim or a 30 day rolling contract if you actually told them of your travel activities etc, although these options do not come with a choice of handset.

How can you be "hoodwinked" on the phone. You are in control and could have said No, as long as all the T&C were explained or you understood them clearly.

As this is an open forum I've asked for the mobile number displayed to be removed.

If your past the 7 day cooling off period you can only cancel by paying the contract off or if you have someone you can trust in the Uk then transfer the bank details into theirs and let them use the contract although you will still be responsible for the contract.

Most calls I believe are recorded so ask for a transcript to prove it was mis sold and try to force the contract to be ended. If the transcript supports that the relevant info was explained then they most likely won't cancel the contract.

You can make your Complaint here if You wish.

My final piece of advice is to never enter into anything via a cold call. Always look at what is available online, at the high street and also with the independents such as CPW.
