I received a text today from this number 07385 231996 - telling me my payment details are not up to date and my bill couldnt be paid. I checked both my O2 account and my bank account and my bill has been paid

Has anyone else had this?

I got this but from a different number. No where near to when my bill was due. Was coming on here to try contact and share with someone!

this is likely what is called smishing (see below) o2 will never text you via mobile number it will always say o2

Smishing

Just like phishing, smishing uses cell phone text messages to lure consumers in. Often the text will contain an URL or phone number. The phone number often has an automated voice response system. And again, just like phishing, the smishing message usually asks for your immediate attention.

In many cases, the smishing message will come from a "5000" number instead of displaying an actual phone number. This usually indicates the text message was sent via email to the cell phone, and not sent from another cell phone.

Do not respond to smishing messages.

@Hayley-Jane Same advice as above. We see texts like these year round, but unfortunately during times of crisis even more evil lowlife come out from under their rocks.
