Does Direct Debit end automatically after cancelling contract?

Hi

So I called O2 last week to cancel my contract and they said everything was sorted and MyO2 now shows up as me having no services with them anymore which is great

Today I got charged though, and would like to know if that's normal or if I need to then go and cancel the direct debit myself? I sort of assume that's supposed to happen while the contract is being cancelled and I don't want to get charged again next month

That will be your final bill.

No need to cancel the DD yet as you need to ensure the final bill is paid.

It won't be called for again by O2 once the contract has ended.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks for the response, so just to confirm payments will just stop automatically without me needing to do anything else?

I'm mostly just paranoid because I had trouble getting the contract ended
