So a little background info. I'm waiting for a new broadband connection to be set up. I have a gap on service is my post is running up to 6 weeks behind. I've had no broadband since 2nd of November. Shouldn't be a big issue as I have a 50GB data plan. As long as I stay off Youtube etc it's plenty. However, my 4G download speeds are averaging around 40 kbps, with peak speeds of 140kbps. Support via MyO2 app have been less than helpful, telling me its just busy, or that I must have a poor signal because of walls or location. They also repeatedly told me of the fantastic feature of 4G enhanced phone calls... I have checked speeds throughout the day over a 9 day period, on 1 occasion (1am) I broke through the 1 Mb barrier. Speeds are so slow basic Web pages will time out, apps will not load. I will receive occasional bursts of notifications, breaking news etc, but cannot load the page to read them. I have had a message saying engineers have fixed the issue, however I see no difference. Engineers are supposedly working on the issue again. I have so far tried, switching mobile data off and on, phone reset, reset network settings, reinsert sim card, standing outside the industrial unit my local mast is placed in with 1 finger up my nose whilst pulling my ear. What else can I try? It's likely that this has been going on for longer than 9 days and it wasn't noticed. I'd struggle with getting routes to places in the car outsise my house and put it down to weak WiFi connection interfering with my mobile data. I suspect now that it was actually just lack of service.

Sounds like you live in one of O2's many areas of congestion.

Have a look here to see if anything helps

Guide: How can I sort out my network issues?

Guide: Is the network down for me or everyone?

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

I think the only thing I haven't tried is sim swapping.

I managed to get onto the my o2 app and somehow have managed to use 7Gb of data. Only way I can see that being accurate is if apps are constantly downloading in the background, which with my connection as it is is quite possible if I'm receiving bad data packets as well.

I spoke to an o2 customer on the playground waiting for school pick up. They were watching TikToks, at the same moment in time, my connection timed out on the Google homepage.

If its a simple capacity issue, o2 needs a better system of managing the traffic than locking out other users.

I'm actually considering driving elsewhere so that I can use the EE website. They have 5G in the area so would hopefully be able to keep up with demand.
