Charged for receiving calls in France

Having got a good French mobile deal for France I was surprised to see call chargrs on my O2 bill. But I'be now realised I've been charged 41p for each of the calls I'be received and answered while here. Am I missing something, or is this a mistake? In each case the number of the call I'm supposed to have made is my own O2 number. I'm confused.

I agree @Cleoriff when used sensibly the £0.50 charge is very cheap for an hour

Could always look at 3. France is a feel at home destination so any calls received would be free and any calls you make come out of your allowance. Data is also covered which is an even bigger plus although it is limited to 25gb of international data on unlimited data plans per month

If you didn't want to get a contract on 3 you could get a pay as you go sim, top it up, convert the top up to an allowance and you'd be good to go.

Yes, I think that 3 will gain quite a bit of custom because of that scheme. For people who want to chat for the best part of an hour per call it might be good value, but I don't, and so it isn't for me. For emergencies only while I'm in France from now on, and by-the minute charge. My French data costs 50p per day too, as opposed to the current £1.99 with O2.
