Cancelling a Volt VM package

Can anyone help with advice please?

I ordered a new Volt package with Virgin on 18th January but deferred the install as I was still in contract with Sky and needed to give notice. My contract with VM started on the 11th February but the o2 sim was sent straight away. I wasn't told at any point that this was the case. I was informed it was 2 separate contracts with 2 separate payments. That bit was fine.

So, the VM hub and tv equipment arrived on the 11th February and was all put in. Unfortunately I had wifi issues and in the end after spending 3 hours on the phone to try and get wifi pods etc I ended the contract as I was in my 14 day cooling off period. During the call I was told that this would also cancel the O2 sim. Now I've since found out that this is not the case and the 14 day window has passed with O2 as the sim was sent out earlier. I didn't need the sim but accepted as part of the package. Has anyone had experience with this? If so what did you have to do? I don't want the sim and feel I was forced into and uninformed at the time.

Any advice etc would be much appreciated.

I'm going to tag @O2Lisa  to your post. She is an account advisor for O2. However she wont be on until 8am tomorrow (Monday) So you need to be ready to give her the information she requests via Private message tomorrow.
