Buy out existing contract and upgrade

I think I know what I need to do, but would just appreciate you experts to confirm it!

I currently have an 'online 10 24-month contract' which costs me £10.21 per month, and which expires on 7th March, though I can upgrade a month early on Feb 8th.

I've got my eyes on a Samsung S2 for when the time comes to upgrade, which can be had for £15.50 per month (still with o2) from buymobilephones.net

The only problem is this:  "This plan includes a £6 discount from the usual price of £21.50 for the term of the contract as part of the O2 Data Promotion, available on orders connected on or before 30th Jan 2013."

Obviously I need to do the upgrade before my contract finishes, so will I be able to pay the contract off up to 8th Feb beforehand and do the upgrade any time before then ? If so, how do I go about it....do I need to put it in writing or will they accept it over the phone?

Sorry if it's a bit long-winded, I'm not the best on mobile phone issues !

I would call Buymobilephones.net and tell them what you want to do. I guess the order will have to be processed manually in order to keep your number. The remaining fee will probably get added to your account.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

If you want to buy out the contract, you will pay up to 7th March not 7th Feb, If you buy out the contact you may lose the upgrade option as you will technically be ending the contract.

Ah right, does that mean I call them and they arrange everything with o2 - or do I still have to tell o2??

Many thanks for the reply, MI5.

Yes, good point, lin.

I'm only paying a tenner a month anyway, so I reckon I can just about run to that!

Thanks.
