Basic Tariff Confusion

Anonymous
Not applicable
Just got a new phone on O2 and need to choose a tariff. First option is unlimited texts for £7.50 a month. Does that mean that when I top up by at least £7.50 I get unlimited texts for one month, and my calls and data come out of the £7.50? Or do I need to top up by more? If I top up £10, does the £7.50 come off leaving me with £2.50 for calls and data?
Could someone recommend a tariff ? I rarely make calls, less than 5 mins a month, I send about 300-400 texts a month and use about 300 Mb data (mostly sat nav) .
I've used half my initial £10 top up already (1 week), so need to choose a tariff.

Only unlimited allows you to keep the top up and use it after the 30 days, hence my suggestion for that tariff wink

Thanks for all the help guys.

Been on live chat and had a very patient person!

I've chose "text and web". I get 300 UK texts and 500MB UK internet when I top up £10. After one month, if I haven't topped up again, the costs come out of that £10.

This means, in theory, I'll top up £10 every two months, so my texts and web will cost me £5 a month. Any calls will be extra, which is fine.

I'm sure this will sound strange to all you talkers, but I really do make very, very few calls.

Cheers

As long at the tariff ticks your wants and needs boxes thats all that counts.

By the way, I looked into GiffGaff and it looks good. I'll give this O2 text and web tariff 2 or 3 months and see what my costs are.

Good tariff choice but I wasn't sure if that was still available. I was on that years ago.....

It doesn't help that the Text and Web tariff doesn't appear to be listed as available! Smiley Indifferent

That's why I wasn't sure about it still.....
I "think" you can text "TEXTANDWEB" to 21300 to switch still but as you say, it's no longer advertised....??

@JOHN,

Was it Live Chat that made you aware of the 'TextandWeb" Tariff.

And how was it applied ?

By them or by you texting a short code ?

Hi

I had seen it somewhere, so was vaguely aware of it. The Live Chat person suggested it and gave examples ( you get more texts and MB for £15 top up, and more again for £20 top up).

I logged into My o2, clicked 'change my tariff' and found it quite easily. I got a confirmation text quickly, and another this morning: "You've now got 500 free UK texts and 500 MB internet to use this month. Remember to top up before 24 Dec to get next month's free allowance."

I had found 2 or 3 pages showing tariffs in varying formats, most not showing this 'Text and Web' tariff.  I think it needs streamlining (if not a totally less confusing choice of tariffs).

My tariff isn't mentioned here but if I find it again I'll post a link.
