An embarrassing question

Well, 2 questions to be honest.

I'm new to Smart mobile phones & monthly contracts; please can someone tell me what the 'unlimited minutes' mean?  Does it mean I can ring any mobile number, regardless of which network they're on, or is it just to O2 phones?

And, my old phone is a Pay as you go, on O2, I think, but the sim was bought from Tesco.

I want to keep my old number so am I transferring from Tesco or O2?

Wish I was 5 years old & knew all about this!

Hi @Jackie

Unlimited minutes is just that...unless you are phoning premium numbers or those which incur charges

See this link https://www.o2.co.uk/help/account-and-billing/other-numbers-and-charges

Tesco uses the O2 network

This is how to keep your number https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/how-to-keep-your-mobile-number

Hope that helps and welcome to the forum Welcome

Just to add this on Unlimited minutes

https://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/mobile/pay-monthly-tariff-terms#inclusive-minutes-and-call-c...

  • Inclusive minutes on Pay Monthly tariffs can be used for calls made in the UK from your SIM Card to:

    • UK landlines (starting 01, 02 or 03); and
    • numbers allocated to UK mobile network operators that provide mobile services with substantial national coverage (this currently includes the five major operators O2, Orange or T-Mobile (together Everything Everywhere), Vodafone and 3, and providers like Virgin Mobile and Tesco Mobile that use major operators' networks to provide their services), all provided that we may exclude from your inclusive minutes allowance calls made to any number ranges which we reasonably believe are being used for call forwarding services, onward calling services or numbers that pay a revenue share. Calls to some telephone helplines are also free of charge and don't use up minutes from your inclusive allowance. A full list of these numbers can be found at: www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/freenumbers

Make sure you call Tesco to ask for your PAC which you need to keep your number on O2. The rest of your questions are covered above.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:

Thank you very much for your helpful replies. I had no idea I could even call some (most) landlines.

Will request my PAC from Tesco & then try to change my number using the online form.

Thanks again for helping a newbie.

@Jackie

We were all new at one time and are pleased to help. When I started here someone told me, 'the only stupid question is the one you don't ask'. Very true, so feel free to ask anything you like wink
