I notice I'm being charged the Abroad daily fee even on days when my phone is only connected via hotel wi-fi. Is this how it's supposed to be?

Hi @Anonymous What country are you in? Have you got O2 Travel?
If in Europe you shouldn't be charged anything unless you have exceeded your allowance limits https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international/using-phone-abroad
Outside of Europe you will pay international rates http://international.o2.co.uk/internationaltariffs/travelling_abroad
Remember if you only want to use WiFi, you should turn mobile data and data roaming OFF on your phone
Outside of Europe (or if you have exceeded your allowance within Europe) a single text will trigger the daily rate..

Yes if you are calling and texting they will trigger the daily travel charge too. It not just restricted to data use.
