@kosi Did you try manually searching through available networks to see if a different provider gave you 5G?

For example: https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/My-O2/Phone-doesn-t-work-when-I-m-in-France/m-p/1702402/highlight/true...

I have had no problem getting 5G when in Germany - not sure about Spain, and I have not been to Portugal...

That said, O2's own website may be out of synch with its international coverage checker tool:

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/network-coverage-and-international/5g-setup

Hopefully, even if getting only 4G, your data is useable in Portugal, @kosi 🤞

As per Guide: Roaming MegaGuide

Applies quite often in the USA, that one @kosi @ - worth a try elsewhere, I guess 🤷

Hi it's Kosi I had to make a new account as I lost access to my original email anyway I have got an update on O2 roaming as I've just been to Munich, Germany and Rhodes, Greece last year in Greece I roamed on COSMOTE or Nova but Vodafone wouldn't connect and in Germany I could roam on either Telekom.de or o2-de and the same with Vodafone it wouldn't let me connect. (I did also roam on EE which could only connect to o2-de)

@NewKosi

It is all down to who the Mobile networks partner with an its not unusual to see o2 UK be allowed to o2-de, o2-pl etc and not Vodafone, EE is a bit different, as they dont really have any sister companies in the EU, it used to be orange and t-mobile.

As I said each network is different and roaming partners are not all the same

This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company
