Hi,

I was wondering if a 5G sim will work in a 4G phone.

Thanks

It will work but it won't give you 5G @kamalaggi

Thanks for your replies.

I'm looking to buy the Xperia 1 Mark II when it is released in a few months time. I've just upgraded my sim only contract requested a 5G sim so i'm ready when the time comes to buy a new phone.

Told today on chat that a 5g sim will ONLY work in a 5g phone.

Order confirmation says '5g only sim'!?

Hi @Mancunian

If you have a 4G phone you will only get 4G. It will work.

@Mancunian

I can assure you they are wrong. A 5G sim will work in a 4G phone, you just wont get 5G speeds.

I have a 5G device and a 5G sim, what happens if I’m in an area without 5G coverage?

If you’re in an area without 5G coverage, your device will automatically connect to the best option available (3G, 4G or wifi)
