4G? Can't even get 3G!

Anonymous

I read on another post 3G was introduced in 2003, it's now 2014 and 3G doesn't exist in the PE26 area!
It's not just O2 that don't provide 3G in this area, all the other networks don't do it in this area.
The local transmitter was down for a while due to theft of something, but it is restored for now and signal has improved to E!
I do about 2000 miles a week and have noticed a decline in the signal coverage around the UK, O2 to O2 calls dropping out and loosing network coverage on PC in truck.

Hopefully it might improve?

We do know that O2 are committed to upgrading their masts (by 2017!!) and until then coverage won't improve. Shame they won't give us any schedule...

Hi

All I can say is the Network Future is http://www.o2.co.uk/connectivity/network-coverage/the-next-big-thing but for someone with issues now waiting till 2017 is a long time.

You can report the masts by downloading the MYNETWORK APP. I assume the service status says it has issues still. http://status.o2.co.uk

Others have been allowed to leave as long as they give the handset back. Or perhaps if your in contract try using Tugo on wifi.

You could also speak to customer services on 202 and see if they will offer a goodwill gesture (they don't have to as hey cover themselves in the T&C)

And Or make a complaint here http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain/complain

TUgo has been a bit unreliable in past, but seems ok for now. I did comment via Twitter but when I got to somewhere with a decent enough signal to make a call 202 had no record of my DM's with @Anonymous

The id send a report back using the mynetwork app where you can say your not getting signal.

Can you try your SIM card in another phone as a process of elimination.

No point looking for faulty phones or sim cards - This is just representative of the coverage across the UK at the moment.
If you sit in one place all day with a good signal yoou wouldn't know but anyone who travels the country will confirm.
It's not just O2 either as I have an EE contract and that's just the same when moving between areas.
All mobile companies need to invest more in their networks I'm afraid - Hopefully we will see some improvements by the time the O2 plan is completed too slight_smile
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
