You still need credit to send an international text from the UK.
There is an International Sim which you could change to https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/international-sim (if still available) but for any other payg tariff you must have credit. There are no bolt ons available, sorry.

Hi @adoptivecathy

Is there anyway you could send a message over WiFi using Messenger etc?

Also, in the link posted above you can purchase credit via this route https://www.mobiletopup.co.uk/o2

Ideal for those who need to top up credit abroad

@adoptivecathy Whatsapp over WiFi would help if the person you are texting also has the app.

If you are on a bundle, make sure your top up isn't taken for your monthly allowances. I have a feeling you may have to top up twice....
