Hi,
Currently have the PAYG £10 Big Bundle tariff. Was in the Republic of Ireland and I dialled 4444 to top up and I got a "call failed" message. Do I need a Bolt On to dial back to the UK?

You should be able to use your bundle to phone from Ireland.

4444 wont work on the Irish Networks, as the network doesnt know how to route 4 digit short dials on UK Sims..

According to O2: "Call 4444 free from your mobile anywhere in the world."

You missed the rest of the line @Mayo_Exile
As it has a caveat....

Ooops, sorry, didn't see that. I tried *111*# too, but got an "unknown application" response. Is there an alternate phone number I can try?

Just to add, as an experiment, I dialled my banks landline number in Northern Ireland, and I got a "call failed" message again. Seems I can't ring back to the UK at all while roaming in the Republic of Ireland.

If you get the call failed message then choose another network in the phone settings, all the numbers and ways to topup are in the link provided by @Benlfc

Had manually selected the "3Ireland" network, on which I encountered the problems above. The two other networks available, "vodafone IE" and "IRL - METEOR" gave a "No Service" indicator when I tried to connect to them.

PAYG phones need to drop down to 3G to make calls but some networks have phased out (or in the process of) closing 3G. Technically the phone should then drop to 2G, but I have found thats not always the case.
Stay clear of Vodafone
