New Pay as you go SIM

I have just purchased a phone for my elderly mum and have bought a £10 unlimited minutes and texts SIM only package. I have activated the phone by buying the £10 and have just made a call to test the phone out to ensure it is working before I give this to her. However, it is now saying that I have zero credit. I don't understand why as I though it was unlimited minutes/texts as long as I ensure I put £10 credit on it each month. I have tried calling Customer Services but each time I say I want to speak about top up cards I get directed to top up again.

@SueinSurrey  O2only do Big Bundles as PAYG. This means your money is taken for the allowances you paid for. You won't see them but the phone will give you unlimited texts and calls and 7 GB of data. It also means you have to top up each month to get the same allowances. https://www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-as-you-go/big-bundles

Now your Mum might be better on a Classic tariff for PAYG where you just top up as and when required.

These are available from Tesco or Giffgaff and are on the O2 network. Or take a look at this one which suits a lot of people https://www.1pmobile.com/

@Cleoriff

Just some information on 1p mobile

1p mobile is no longer a classic PAYG offering from the 1st October with a minimum spend of £2.50 per month and if you don't have any credit they will disconnect you within 10 days of this...

@madasaf1sh

Thanks for that info on 1p mobile. However even with a  minimum spend of £2.50, it's still cheaper than the £5.00 Big Bundle, dependent on your usage. (Although I will be careful when I recommend it again) 😉
