Keeping the number while being outside the UK

I left the UK a few days ago and would not be returning in quite some time. But I would like to keep the number. I found a 5 pounds per month plan on the O2 website. Is there any other plans or ways for me to keep my number?

That is about the best way, @HappyLamb - don't forget to make a chargeable call at least once every 180days, to keep the account active. Also those big bundle plans need you to top up monthly, be sure to do that regularly as well - minimum top-up is £10, so you get 2 months per top-up, assuming no other usage.

You could be better off switching to a low SIMO contract for 6 or 8pounds per month to keep your number without all this "make a chargeable call" and "top-up to make a call" malarkey.

Or swapping to a different company than O2 that offers cheaper PAYG, and porting your number to them to keep it. 1p mobile comes to mind - but porting to them would need to be done before you travel, whilst still in the UK. Not great news, but then O2 keep moving the goalposts, so may other providers, @HappyLamb. Good luck.

Thank you so much! If I switch to the 5 pounds plan and top up every 2 months, do I still need to call every 180 days?

Seems to be mandated, @HappyLamb - "don't forget to make a chargeable call at least once every 180days, to keep the account active."- came from feedback offered by the Forum Manager some time back.
