I have an old PAYG tariff (text and web) on an even older number.

I need to keep the number active but don't use any credit for this number.

Can anyone tell me definitively how often I need to top up / make a call to kee the number "live"

I've been told so many different things in the last week so would welcome a certain answer

Thanks

@itsawindyday You need to make a chargeable call or send a text once every six months and top up every 999 days to keep your number active.

@itsawindyday

T&C's for tariffs taken between 2008 to 2013 here https://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/archive/mobile/on-pay-and-go-our-service-terms-are-worth-a-r...

Section 7 states:

7. Our Rights to Bar or Disconnect Your Mobile Phone

  • 7.1. If you do not make or receive a chargeable call at least once in any 6 month period your Mobile Phone will be disconnected and you will lose any remaining credits balance on your Account. If you wish to be re-connected after this time you will be given a new Mobile Phone number.
