Try resetting by pressing the top power button and home button until the apple logo appears and then let go.

Hi, I had this issue and it was caused because my new contract had not been set to "iPhone". I called O2 customer services on 202 and they resolved it immediately.

Thanks, I was just leaving this as I found this is a common question and yet I never found an answer. I don't think this is a DIY fix.
