is anyone else getting emails to say that their email address needs to be verified? I've had a few now telling me to log in and verify my details or my account will be closed down. Is this spam, the address it comes from is noreply@o2.co.uk

Yes, there was an article about this in the trade press. The usual scammers taking opportunity of the outage. Once your O2 account is compromised they can change your address and order a new phone.

Hi angeltk,

It could be spam. If you're not sure, just delete it.

It's a scam, do not click on any links in this email.

An unsolicited email from anyone asking you to verify anything is likely to be fake.

That link may well lead to a fake site where they could be tricked into entering their O2 account details.

It's called phishing and the fake site could be indistinguishable from the real one.

Let's stay safe out there! slight_smile

There are several sites that expose these scams and phishing emails, have a Google for them.

I like a program called Trusteer Rapport, which can safeguard the sites you use and log into regularly, if you try to log onto a fake one it will block it and flag it to you.

You can get it here and it's free:
