This is what I understood to be the case:
'It doesn't matter how long you've had your current phone for, or how long you've got left on your plan. And you won't even have to pay off your current plan – we'll settle it for you. How do I upgrade? Just visit our Upgrades page and enter your My O2 sign in details to get started.' But every time I try to upgrade it's telling me I need to clear my previous plan and pay £277.
Please help with this.

That info must be from an old promotion. Currently you can upgrade if you have paid off your device or are out of contract.
