Looking at past threads it appears to be 10,000 or 12,000 for contract.

And 3,000 to 5,000 for Payg.

@Chiara
@Toby

Can you clarify to help anyone who searches for this information on the site.

It's 2990 on PAYG before texts are charged at the standard rate.

12000 on monthly but it's rare that people are charged for going over as long as it's not being regularly abused or used for spamming. This figure isn't in the T&Cs but we have been advised by O2 staff posting on here that this is the accepted 'fair usage' figure before any warning texts are sent to customers.

I'm on pay as you go go go with 5,000 texts which changes to unlimited texts soon.

If it says I have 5,000 texts in my tariff surly I cannot be capped at 2,990 ?

No you have it stipulated as 5000 texts not 'unlimited'. The 2990 figure relates to unlimited so go figure that one:smileywink:

So in essence I'd be better of wanting to stay on 5,000 texts ,as I'd get more than on unlimited !

That's crazy !

Lol.

Pay and Go Go Go may be different as the limits on that tariff are variable.

Plain "Unlimited texts" isn't.

We can only go by what we see here, O2 will not explain how they work it out.

We have been asking this question for about five years now.

I really think this should be challenged. either your tariff is "unlimited" or limited, if its 12000 texts fine but thats limited at 12000. Unlimited should be what it means. Why is the regulator not doing something about this?

Tbh I'm surprised this is not on the official 02 website.

I believe 02 go on the assumption not many people would hit the upper limit on a contract ,but I'm sure people have come close to the payg upper limit.

Unlimited, if advertised as such should mean exactly that.
