Snack Games Scam Text

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've just received an unsolicited text out of the blue saying I've subscribed to a service called SnackGames for £2.99 per week.  They invite you to send a 'stop' text to a number and list an 0330 premium rate number to call. The other contact details are obviously bogus too. What's worrying is that on checking my account, I have been charged 😞

On contacting O2 on-line chat, the fella was about as much use as a chocolate teapot and said it wasn't an O2 charge!

I don't want to get spanked for more (unknown) charges by responding to their text either.

Has anyone else had this and managed to resolve the issue OK?

I'm right in the middle of solving the same issue on my o2 bill. Month ago I received the text message saying they charge me 2.99 per week. Straight away contacted o2. I've been told not to click on any links from the text, not to use any phone numbers provided there and wait until this will be on my bill. The guy on chat told me it's not their charge. I try to push him to do anything just because I pay the bill to o2 and I signed the contract with o2 and in my opinion they are repsonsible to keep it under control. Today I checked my bill and of course they charged me about 15£. Contacted o2 again and today they told me to call the company and they will issue refund. Rang the company and they informed me that I'll receive an email with instructions that I need to follow to get refund. Now they would like me to send the screenshot or copy of my o2 bill with my address details that they will be able to send me a refund- cheque. Maybe I'll get the money back but obviously now they have all my details and they can sell it to other company!!!!

And first of all- I don't play games or surbscribe anything.

It's a joke cause if we wish to do anything what's important for us we have to sing 1000 pages of agreement, terms and conditions etc. But for their use it's just one click and they get our money.

Something is not right here and again- I signed the contract with o2 and they are allowed to charge me. If I pay the bill to o2 defo it's not to third party scams.

O2 bill you for what charges you incur, same as any other provider.
If the charges are incorrect you need to address the issue as you have done.
Someone is making a load of money out of this or else the regulation would be better by now. It really needs a watchdog investigation or similar for something to be done about it.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi everyone!

Currently dealing with the same scam!! I have phoned the o2 customer service and they came up with the same "third party crap" I was charged around £14.95 every month for snack games that I have not purchased.

I very firmly asked the o2 customer advisor to contact the third party right there and then while on the phone. At first he said its not them and bla bla bla but I did not give in!!! And I ADVISE you to be just as forceful.

The result of the conversation is a full refund but I still have to send the screen shots of the charges to those people with my address on it.

The more people call with this issue the more advisor they have to hire to solve it!!! My sister is with 3 network and was charged £4.50 for the same kind of games. This is unacceptable practice.

Please while on the phone take the advisors name, time and call reference number for future reference. I was disconnected once in the middle of conversation so avoid having to explain the same thing twice.

It is a bit of a hasslle so asked for complimentry £10 off my next bill as well.

Hope that helps!!

I am contacting trading standards about this scam and asking them to consider prosecution of 02 when they have particpted in this scam, were made aware about this scam on their own website and just like the scumbag banks, thought to themselves, keep going, divide and deafet them mug punters as we are making a fortune doing this and no preblian is going to stop us ! Welcome to me, I wont stop until you have tears in your eays about this and will tell any and every decent person not to deal with anyone who particpates in any such conduct.

Below is the message that I received from this company that is stealing people's money through mobile companies. The surprising this is that they are claiming to be based in France and they are riping people off in the UK. Someone stole my money and is now asking for my full name and bill shwing my name before they can refund my money back. I asked if I ever had anything to do with them or sign any contract with them before they stole my money. It is unbeleivable that mobile operators are allowing these fraudulent companies to freely steal from people:
