I’ve recieved a text today from o2 reading:

Hi. It looks like you recently sent your first premium text (SMS).

Just in case you didn't know, this sort of text isn't included in your tariff.

To check your charges and stay on top of your bill, head to My O2: http://s.o2.co.uk/6cRZoVk7

I have sent no texts different from usual. I’ve gone through my texts. Nothing to any company or strange number. I’ve been charged £3.75!!! Like I said I’ve sent nothing to any strange number. I have however recieved a couple strange automated spam text messages of which the numbers I blocked. Could that be what’s taken the 3.75? How can I be charged for receiving dodgy texts I didn’t sign up for?! So confused. Never replied back or anything just blocked the numbers the spam like texts were coming from.

It’s all very sneaky how they do this. We keep asking for a 2 step verification system put in place to stop this from happening

And the silence from O2 is deafening!

@TextCharges@FK When you eventually get in contact with customer service, you need to request they bar charge to mobile on your phone, and block all premium rate numbers. https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

They could not help me in store so managed to get through on webchat in the end, was told to text STOP to 82450, they have also credited my account and hopefully put a block on the numbers!

@FK That's good news for you. This issue has become epidemic amongst many O2 customers. Why O2 is sitting on their hands doing nothing to deal with it is anyone's guess.

I JUST CHECKED MY O2 BILL AND FOUND I AM BEING CHARGED £0.15 A MESSAGE FOR RESPONDING TO THE O2 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEY. EACH RESPONSE ATTRACTS THAT CHARGE. O2 SHOULD BE REWARDING CUSTOMERS FOR RESPONDING TO SURVEYS......

That's not a premium text/SMS, @Wirelessroamer - the survey link sent out should never incur a charge or cost to the responder to answer (although if a shortcode response number is used, your phone may warn you about possible charges, by default).

If you have been charged to answer an O2 SMS survey, please collect the dates and details when you sent the SMS replies and drop @Kei-M_O2 (the O2 community manager) a Private Message with the info so he can check it out for you. Indicate if you are a Contract or a PAYG customer as well.

Good luck, @Wirelessroamer
