No Mobile Data in Rome, Italy

I purchased an extra mobile data bolt-on for use when travelling in Rome last week, however when I connected to the only working network provider I WIND, I had no mobile data.

 

I rebooted, changed the settings and even went through a lengthy chat with an O2 Guru while on the hotel wi-fi... all to no avail - no mobile data in Italy's capital city.

 

I could not use Google Maps to find the places we wanted to and could not post photos.

 

Rediculous.

 

Surely, this cannot be right?!

 

It was not just me, my partner travelling with me had no mobile data either.

 

Has anyone else had this problem?

 

Why should I pay for my O2 Travel and Mobile Data bolt-on?!

PS: yes, as soon as we landed back in London, mobile data was working... so not the fault of the phone.

now you are back home. You may get a refund.

Edited to add...O2 Travel is free...but you did pay for the bolt on....

I'm confused?
O2 travel gives unlimited data in EU for £1.99 a day so no need for a data bolt on.
We also know it's quite slow but should be sufficient for maps. Photo uploads might struggle though.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Just wonder if it's something wrong with the settings @MI5. A bit strange though that neither phone worked?

Would that affect it? O2 dont have 4G roaming agreements with anyone in Europe do they?

No, that's why phone needs to be set to 3g or else it will pick up 4g that don't work.

Hello All,

 

Thank you for your replies!

 

Yes both phones are on O2 Monthly contract and are running Android 6.

 

We have used these same phones for the last 2 years and had no problems in other countries.

 

We tried changing / resetting the network settings, swapping between 3G and 4G, etc.

 

We shall complain using the link you provided.

Sorry to 'go on' and not questioning your knowledge at all Bow......but I never change the settings on my 4G Note when I fly to Spain and I get mobile data...Obviously always showing as 3G....
