Going abroad - Turn off SMS

Anonymous
Not applicable

When I go abroad, I take two mobiles and in one I leave my uk sim and in the second a payG sim for the foreign country.

I don't want to send SMS from either my uk mobile (too expensive), nor my foriegn number (service not available on payg). Ideally Iwould like people who SMS me to receive an automatic replygiving them my foriegn mobile number. But that would mean sendin an expensive SMS from my uk mobile abroad. any suggestions?

I can only advise sending a group txt to your useual contacts informing them of your new number.

Create a voicemail citing your foreign number.

Leave your phone at home to avoid the large charges.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

Thanks for all suggestions

Send an email to my "usual contacts". I like that idea. Only problem is that I have 1800+ entries in my contact list. Is there any quick way (an app perhaps) of putting them in a group?

"Leave phone at home". No thanks I want it to and from and at airport.

"Create voicemail...". This wont help me, as it is the sms messagers who need to be informed. Voice calls I divert to my abroad number.

I do not know if this will help and I have not read the T&C's

Only problem with that is its phone side, you'd have to recieve the SMS first to respond:( (costly)

Good point though. What phone is it?
