False info from police regarding their 101 number

Anonymous
Not applicable
I've just been searching the posts regarding 101 & can see several saying it's a chargeable call. Yet the police tell you it's FREE! Was fuming to find out I'd been charged 30odd pence & never got to speak to anyone. Going to stick with dialing 999 or the old regional numbers (luckily I've kept them). Plus someone seems to answer as soon as it rings!

I have had reason to use 999 three times and the operator answered straight away. Regional numbers are hit and miss especially with most town being lumped together exactly like it says...regional!
