Blocked phone - didn't happen

I lost my phone. Rang o2 to get it blocked.  1 1/2 hours later phone found, hadn't been blocked and when I rang o2 was told there was no record of my call and phone not blocked. I am trying to raise this with o2 via email but can't get anywhere, just a virtual assistant that keeps throwing me off track!
