5G on eSIM

Hey there!

I'm new to the world of eSIMs, so I'm not 100% on how the tech works, however I've got a couple questions about O2 and 5G on eSIM.

Firstly, I know O2 doesn't currently support 5G on eSIM, however does anyone have a rough idea of when O2 are looking at bringing 5G over to eSIMs.

Secondly, will I need a new eSIM plan/pack in order to get 5G on my S20 5G, or will I suddenly notice 5G pop up on my handset?

Hopefully I'm not repeating this question. Any help would be awesome.

Hey there, and welcome to the O2 Community.

I'll try and answer both your questions:
1) We can't provide an exact date or month right now, but this is something we're absolutely working on, and we're aiming to have live later this year.
2) When we enable 5G eSIM, you'll need to SIM swap from your 4G eSIM to the new 5G eSIM once available - if you have a 4G eSIM then 5G won't suddenly become available on it
