Windows Skydrive. Is it always on?

Hey,

I'm wondering if anyone will know if skydrive is always on and if it will use my monthly data allowance? Are you able to have skydrive download only when on wifi? I'm concerned that if i get a 500Mb contract it will be too little if skydrive is on.

Like all cloud services it is always on but you only use data when you upload or download to / from it. The same as your Broadband connection at home.

Hi bugdvae.

You best option to allow you to conserve your data allowance is to turn automatic uploads off, to do this:

• On Start , flick left to the App list.

• Tap Settings , flick left to Applications, and then tap Pictures + Camera.

• Turn off Automatically upload to SkyDrive.

Then you can pick and choose which pictures you want to back up by:

• On Start , tap Pictures .

• Find a picture or video you want to share.

• Tap More  (or tap and hold the picture), and then tap Share.

• Then select SkyDrive
