Hey Guys,

Got some great news for all you Nokia fans out there! slight_smile You all will be delighted to know that we’re currently testing and working closely with Nokia UK to unveil the Windows Phone 7.8 software update for Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 soon to ensure it delivers a superb user experience.

Once we have a green light for the roll-out, we’ll update this post and O2 customers will be available to download the update via Zune. Exciting times, right?! Meanwhile, I’m curious to know which particular feature from the latest version (7.8) are you guys waiting for?

The not so great news is that millions of nokia owners are left out on a limb three months after the supposed release date of this update...this shoddy service from nokia and M$ is the best advert for andriod os I have come across...back to samsung and the green robot for me asap.

My phone is HTC and it's the same story with them. The problem here appears to be mainly O2 as far as I can tell. The 7.8 release at the end of January was suspended for a while due to a bug but should now be available again. The main problem here I think is that O2 are not saying anything useful and one wonders if it is because they are doing nothing. Switching to Android wouldn't make any difference to that. If O2 didn't want to give you an update to it you wouldn't get that either. Also I don't understand really how you can "threaten" to go back to Android. Although I think it's a superb operating system, having use Windows Phone and its live tiles and so on, I couldn't possibly use anything else at the moment. I think it is very kind of Microsoft to let us have 7.8 - they didn't have to - rather than expecting us all to buy WP8. Doing that increases the number of people who will upgrade to or buy a WP8 for their next phone. Although WP has the smallest market share right now, it is the fastest growing phone operating system.

Does anyone else here start to get the impression that O2 do not even monitor their own support message boards? Surely at this point we're all talking among ourselves: O2 have left the room.

This is a "community" forum not an "O2 Customer Support" forum. There is no suggestion that O2 respond directly to any questions on here although there are Leonard & Toby who are board managers that you could send a PM to and ask nicely if they could find out any more info for you from their tech team.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Fair enough, MI5, but what I meant is that this is an official O2 forum, rather an independent one set up by users. Whether it's a support forum or not, I'd expect customer services to recognise the opportunity to interact with customers and have a very active presence here. Especially when there is so much disaffection being expressed. Incidentally, I ended up here because I googled for information on a release date for WP7.8 and this thread seems to be the only place that O2 have put ANY information into the public domain.

There are many other channels to contact O2 directly for specific answers to questions, this isn't designed to be one of them, although very occasionally we do get O2 presence it's not "Official". Follow link for direct contact http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

If you want a personal response you have to unfortunately contact customer service directly. The forum is designed for customers to interact and help each other. In most circumstances you will find answers here with the wealth of knowledge available.

Unfortunately, in my experience, when you do that they just give some wishy-washy answer like "soon" and nothing dinfinitive or otherwise useful.  O2 are not alone in this. It has unfortunately become the norm to treat customers like sheep these days.

I have spoke to o2 again today and was told I should have had the update by now. Over the weekend I've been told to reinstall Zune, change phone settings, free up memory, and more. None of these things have worked. Each staff member has given different info and none can give any solid information as to what is happening.

16th now...still nothing, checking on Zune every night.

Comment from O2 would be nice here, don't say you are working on the fix, as a check through this thread shows that you are rolling it out, but to who and when seem totally arbitrary.

When are we going to get this update guys........?
