I have a Lumia 820 Windows 8 phone and although it is ok, there is a problem with memory

storage.  I don't have that many apps but when I check the phone storage I have 2.94 designated as 'other' does anybody know what this is and how do I get rid of it as my phone is starting to run a bit slow.

Contained on my phone is

Music and videos 101.5 mb

Picture 68.46kb

Apps 1.93gb

OTHER 2.94GB

System 1.91gb

Free space 535.36mb

Hope you can help.

http://nokiagadgets.com/2013/03/15/new-update-available-for-lumia-920-lumia-820-and-lumia-620-other-...

Seems like Nokia have a fix for the "other" storage fault, if its available from Navifirm then my guess is it'll need to go through certification then testing at o2 before its rolled out, it is encouraging that Nokia are supporting the OS like this but disappointing the MS haven't done anything themselves.

and if you dont wanna wait for the update then u can hard reset ur phone which will delete all files from your device
http://ukmobilereview.com/manufacturers/m-nokia/how-to-hard-reset-the-nokia-lumia-920-and-lumia-820/

but be aware that some ppl bricked their phones when preforming a hard reset

another option if ur more advanced is to flash your phone , the procedure is very simple and if you follow the guides on google u will be fine

The memory in "other" is partitioned for app caches, performing a factory reset is cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Wouldn't it be better advice to just delete any truly unneeded apps until an update goes live as opposed to flattening your phone and voiding the warranty on a new handset by flashing it for the sake of memory allocation?

By the way, I'm all for flashing firmware to phones, I'm on wp7.8 on a lumia 710 upgraded through the seven-eighter utility, the difference is my upgrade is due in 4 weeks, not 12-24 months, I don't mind my warranty being voided or my phone bricking itself for the sake of a month.

the whole point with this bug is that it stores the cache files but you cant delete them in any way , removing apps doesnt seem to help
