Copying Contacts from Symbian phone to new Android

I have an old Samsung M8800 and have just upgraded to Xperia E5.  How can I transfer the contacts to the new phone.  SIM's are different sizes (Micro & Nano) Have tried moving all contacts on old phone from SIM to Phone, then tried to send to new phone over Bluetooth.  It failed.  Maybe something to do with the format of the data?

Any ideas?  This is an upgrade, so I no longer have phone connection on old phone as the service was transferred to new SIM

Back them up to your google account and then when you sign in on the new phone they will appear.

No access to Google on old phone, the SIM has been transferred, in any case the Internet stopped working on 3G Symbian phone a couple of years ago. No security updates.

Nope to WiFi it is 9 years old.  I only use mobiles for calls and texts.  But a large contact list.  Will try to see if I still have the old phone Software installed on an old laptop or virtual machine, maybe I can export from there

That might just save your neck. Other than that I don't think it'll happen tech wise.

I'm sure it'll be a different file anyway that might not be read anymore

Was it PC Suite that we used to use to back up those phones?
If so, I seem to recall you could export the contacts from a back up as a .CSV file that can be imported into your Google account.
