This has happened twice now, All my contacts disappear from my phone book and my brothers contacts appear (He lives in France by the way) we both have Nokia smart phones. Can anybody help ?

It has to be a shared account that is syncing across both phones. It's the only way it can happen.

Did you backup your phone to cloud, i do this at least once a month you can backup apps+settings text photos videos, it`s so you can recover your phone should the worst happen, it`s under system settings- backup.

I agree with the others, it cannot be anything else but you sharing your Microsoft or Google Account.
Most likely your Microsoft Account.
