if I am calling with my UK number while I am abroad, will the receiver from the uk know that I'm abroad ?

In theory, no. Your CLI may be presented in +44 format rather than 0, and there may be a slight "satellite" delay if you're in a far-flung country.. but for all intents, the only clue should be the foreign ringtone on inbound calls.
