Here are my answers:

Q1 (Inventions) Lewis Carroll was a well-known author. He was also an inventor. What was his most famous invention?

A1 a card template and square alphabet for writing in the dark - a nytograph [? - not sure of spelling]

Q2: (Music)  What song reached No.6 in the UK charts in the 1950's and then reached No.1 twenty nine years later?

A2 this one drove me nuts. I first thought it was Living Doll [Cliff Richard, then Young Ones] but days don`t fit. Woke in the middle of last night with a light bulb moment - Reet Petite [by Mary Wilson in 1980s who had 50s hairstyle, but don`t remember who released it in 50s]

Q3 (History) What was the shortest war ever fought?

A3 knew this one - Anglo-Zanzibar War in August 1896 - lasted about 40 minutes

Q4 (Sport) Up till July 2018, what was the most watched Sporting event in the World?

A4 A complete guess. Possibly a trick/QI-style question, so I ruled out US Superbowl and, from clue in date, guess FIFA World Cup

Q5 (Television) In the USA, who were the first couple to be seen in bed together on TV?

A5 Another guess. Much have been early US TV comedy so acceptable to censor, so guess I Love Lucy with Lucille Ball and Dezi Arnez

Q6 (Theatre) In the Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet, how old was Juliet when she died?

A6 Think I know this. In the play, the nurse refers to Juliet being "not yet 14" so must have been 13.

Q7 (World Record) What building holds the world record for the most toilets?

A7 No idea. First thought was The US Pentigon but thinking about it today wondered about it being a sporting venue - so I`ll make a wild guess at Wembley Stadium

Q8 (Culture) In what country is it considered extremely impolite to touch an adults head?

A8 Thinking about it being "culture" question, I think it might be either Tibet or Thailand - I`ll opt for Thailand - but is a guess

Q9 (Geography) What Middle east capital city was once called Philadelphia?

A9 The worse question for me. My knowledge of geography is very limited - I`ll guess Lebanon

Q10 (Medicine) What is the oldest, most widely used drug in the world?

A10 Think I know this - cannabis

Q11 (Literature) Night is generally my time for walking.” This is the opening line to which novel by Charles Dickens?

A11 I reckoned it was between two [either David Copperfield or The Old Curiosity Shop] so spent time today thinkig about it and I`m fairly confident that it is The Old Curiosity Shop

Q12 (Food and Drink) Which beer famously has a blue 5 pointed star on its label?

A12 Think I know this - Newcastle Brown

Well those are my answers

Five I was fairly confident with from the start;

Three I spent time thinking about

Four are guesses - one a very wild guess

Now got to wait and see the verdict Don't know D'oh!

A brilliant quiz. Very difficult questions. Thank you @Cleoriff for organising and running it. Good luck all those who have taken part.

Well I will give the answers tomorrow but I will tell you this now...I will NEVER offer to do this again rofl

As I always try to be honest, there was one question I hadn't researched properly and when the answers started to come in I realised there was more than one answer to one of the questions... so I wish I had never asked it!!! (All will become clear tomorrow) innocent

Now I have a big job posting the correct answers (mine)...and then posting all those submitted by the 9 nine players.

It may have been a 'good' quiz but hats off to @Mi-Amigo  doing these every week or so. Bow

Well done @Cleoriff for hosting the quiz.
Some of my answers matched those from @Mi-Amigo, and others not so much...

You can always hide behind the "Answer on my sheet is the right one" quizmaster rule, @Cleoriff 😉

Never stops the odd argument in the pub quiz we go to, though... 😳
