There are two White Room Quizzes each week - one on Monday and one on Wednesday.

Each White Room Quiz will have eight questions - with two questions from four categories. 

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

Those wishing to take part must pm me - @Mi-Amigo - with their answers between 12 noon today [Monday] and 11.59pm tomorrow [Tuesday]

Please note: there is no QI-style question [where the answer is not what most people think] this time.

Q3 [FOOD & DRINK - 1] What type of food is creme du Barry ?

 

Q4 [SPORT - 1] Who was the first footballer to be transferred for £1 million ?

 

Q5 [PEOPLE - 2] Who was the last woman to be hanged in Britain ? 

 

Q6 [NATURE - 2] What type of tree is also known as a May tree [not Latin name] ?

 

Q7 [FOOD & DRINK - 2] What vegetable was introduced into Scotland by Patrick Miller, who received

                                          seeds of the vegetable from King Gustav of Sweden in around 1800 ? 

 

Q8 [SPORT - 2 ] Who was the first English motor racing world champion ?  

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members of the Community.

 

Those who want to take part must pm [private message] me [Mi-Amigo] with their answers between 12 noon today [Mon 20 July] and 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tuesday 21 July]

- allowing 36 hours to pm your answers.

 

Please do not post your answers on the thread.

 

The answers - and results for each player taking part - will be posted on morning of Wed 22 July.

 

Each member will be awarded star for each correct answer. In addition, each member who gives

Each member must pm [private message] their answers to me [Mi-Amigo] after 12 noon today [Mon 20 July 2020] and before 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tues 21 July 2020].

No member is to post any answer on the thread.

Any answer received after 23.59 [11.59pm] on Tuesday 21 July will be declared void.

No googling, wiki, youtube search for answers.

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

New members, who have recently joined the Community, and members who have not taken part before, are welcome to join the "regulars" with this week`s quiz. 

 

Please feel free to post any comments on the questions - but not the answers - on this thread.

If you have any questions about the quiz, please ask and I will reply here.

A1:  Spencer Percival   

      

Q2 [NATURE - 1] What type of bird is named in honour of Thomas Bewick, who`s wood engravings

                              of birds appeared in "A History of British Birds" ?

A2:  swan - Bewick wren is also named after him, so I would accept that as a correct answer

 

Q3 [FOOD & DRINK - 1] What type of food is creme du Barry ?

A3:   soup - cauliflower soup to be precise

 

Q4 [SPORT - 1] Who was the first footballer to be transferred for £1 million ?

A4:  Trevor Francis

 

Q5 [PEOPLE - 2] Who was the last woman to be hanged in Britain ? 

A5:  Ruth Ellis
