Except what's happening in the US isn't coming from Spain. It's the position of the jetstream preventing cool air coming down into the US from Canada.
Edit: Looks even worse in the Middle East

38c....its actually 41c on my balcony

No I have come to the conclusion the older I get the less I can cope with continual unrelenting heat...A few years ago we decided we wouldn't come here in August so started coming in July. This year even the Spaniards are finding it unbearable. I know 2 weeks ago I was moaning about the cold in the UK...and was so glad to get here....Now I wish I had only booked for a week. Roll on Monday
