Top Gear: The future?

Unless you have been in a news free zone for 24 hrs it wont have gone unnoticed that Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended...

Allegedly he punched a producer....

Sundays episode has been shelved along with the remaining two in the Top Gear series..

Clarksons suspension has led to a massive petition for his reinstatement.

Personally, I wonder why so many want him back? Surely this massively popular show can survive without him? (Stands back ready to be panned for that comment )

Maybe this 'hero worship' of Clarkson is a 'man thing'? (apologies if that appears sexist )

I don't particularly like him. I think he arrogantly believes he is invincible....

I know @perksie I have watched him before..... with one eye closed as it were...

Working in accident and trauma I saw so many life changing injuries from motorcycle injuries....

Having said that I must have caused my own parents a lot of mental trauma as 'back in the day' I was usually spotted riding pillion on some fast machine...

Could be a clever move, since friends he's done a failed spinoff "joey", a decent comedy "episodes" and a few top gear spinoffs.
Also bear in mind he is the fastest ever star in a reasonably priced car.

i couldn't believe that (fastest ever), but just checked and he is. wow!

still not sure about how this is going to work, particularly given reports of Chris Evans not being able to drive and talk at the same time... or throwing up after being driven round in a fast car!
