I'm going to change the title of this thread to 'How Bloody Dare They'!!
Just read yesterday that the 'love of my life' Johnny Depp, will no longer feature in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry....but if there is no Cap'n Jack Sparrow, there are no Pirates of the Caribbean.
I say again. How bloody dare they???????????????????????????

Totally agree @Cleoriff. Cap'n Jack Sparrow is Pirates of the Caribbean and it will not be the same without him.
However, I think his private life may be responsible for his 'retirement'. Disney prides itself on being a family-friendly company and his antics plastered all over the papers would have tarnished that. I love him but he is his own worst enemy.

Cap'n Jack Sparrow aka Jonny Depp is ... ... ...
THE HEART, BODY & SOUL of The Pirates of the Carribean
Jonny Depp as Cap'n Jack Sparrow live in Disney Park

Problem with that theory @Glory1 is that Johnny Depp had a 'bad boy' reputation well before he was signed to be Cap'n Jack. He owned the Viper Club which had a bad rep. He is also a member of the group Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper.
The only thing that went wrong for him was his divorce from Amber Heard. Neither he or she came out of that very well.
However Disney should remember the good things about him. The times he has turned up unannounced at children's hospitals making the lives of those kids much happier. The charity work he does etc etc etc.
Then of course Tim Burton isn't involved in production of the Pirates franchise. Tim and Johnny go hand in hand making films. JD Is always Tim's first choice..

You'll get no argument from me @Cleoriff. As I said it's Cap'n Jack Sparrow that make the Pirates of the Caribbean the films they are and I love him bad boy rep and all.
But I know how Disney would view it, hypocrits that they are. They don't ever mention that their founding father, Walt Disney was far from the saint they like to paint. He was a one of the biggest racists going. He actually insisted on an Indian employee being fired as he was too dark-skinned. Hardly family friendly.
Also I'm guessing that's the reason, it may be they think he's too old, though he doesn't look his age. Or it could be that they simply want to go in a totally different direction and Johnny Depp didn't fit. Only Disney know the real reason behind the change.

They should just leave Pirates of the Caribbean as it is, changing such key characters never works in my opinion and then spoils what has already gone!
