I will certainly never forget. I was at work when a customer told me what had happened. I contacted my boyfriend at the time who worked in the American Embassy to find he had lost his brother.

I later found out I had lost 6 friends so I think you can imagine the state I was in.

I will never ever forget what happened on this day. NEVER 😭

That's just so sad. My friends were in New York on that tragic day and we were frantically trying to get hold of them. The phone wouldn't connect to theirs all day. They finally called us the next day thankfully.

I and my wife were working in the O2 call centre and customers were keeping us updated whist we dealt with their issues, many of which were being unable to call New York numbers.

We were all checking the Internet constantly and it was really strange that there was a period when the phones went really quiet for over an hour. Two of the staff with relatives there were allowed home as the enormity of what was happening unfolded.

People trying to get through jammed New York numbers was probably the worst. Not knowing if family or friends were affected.

I thank God my boyfriend worked at the Embassy so was able to keep me in the loop even though the news he gave me was very upsetting. At least I knew what had happened. It was horrible for so many people not knowing and consequently fearing the worst.

This infamous day will be remembered by many people, particularly those of us affected by the horrific loss of life.

It seems to have gone under the radar this year I unless I'm a little cocooned in here.

No you are right @jonsie. It hasn't made any of the UK news channels this year. I think the horror of Hurricane Irma is getting a great deal of coverage. The pictures coming in of that are frightening. Hope and prayers for those poor people suffering the effects of that disaster Heart

Yes Hurricane Irma is dominating the news. The horrific devastation left in her wake is heartbreaking. So many left with no homes. Businesses destroyed. The cost of the damage in the millions of dollars; though no cost can be put on the lives lost.

My heart and prayers go out those affected.

The Caribbean and the Southern States are beautiful places to live or visit but you always fear the worst in the hurricane season. Obviously this has been the worst in recent times though.

Tonight please spare a thought for John Richie and his family. Tragically his daughter Louella has been named as the young lady murdered at the Bestival. You might know him better as DI Ross in Taggart and more recently in Coronation Street.

Louella is on the right of the picture. Very sad 😔

OMG! Thank you @jonsie for the info about John Richie and his daughter who was confirmed as the murdered young lady at Bestival.

I am a big fan of John Richie and my prayers go out to he and his wife at this tragic time.

I am not a parent but I feel losing a child to illness is bad enough but to know someone deliberately took your child's life must be soul destroying.

I hope they catch whoever did this cruel thing.
